Rajinikanth

Biography

Rajinikanth is a Tamil cinema actor who has been a star since the 1970s. Born in Bangalore, he worked as a bus conductor before joining the Madras Film Institute. His first film was Katha Sangama (1975), and he rose to stardom with Apoorva Raagangal (1975). He has appeared in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada films, as well as an English production. He became known for a distinctive acting style, including a signature gesture in which he tossed a cigarette and caught it in his mouth. His appearance helped make him a hero to lower-class audiences. Directors were reportedly cautious about killing off his characters, while fans collected opening day ticket stubs. He has been described as having tiger-like intensity on screen.
