Plot summary
Nancy teaches in Holland, Michigan, a small Midwestern town, where she lives with her husband Fred, an optometrist, and their thirteen-year-old son Harry. She considers her family life perfect. The year is 2000, and Fred is away often, at out-of-town conferences that seem too many for an optometrist. He also keeps Polaroid photographs though the family does not own a Polaroid camera, and Nancy suspects him of living a double life. Dave, another teacher at the school, helps Nancy find out where Fred goes on his trips, and as the two work together they become suspicious of a secret and romantic feelings develop between them.
