Peter Davison
Biography
Peter Davison is an English actor who began on stage before making his television debut in a 1975 episode of The Tomorrow People. He came to prominence as Tristan Farnon in All Creatures Great and Small, a role he later reprised. From 1981 to 1984 he played the fifth incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who, the youngest actor cast in the part at the time, and returned for The Five Doctors (1983). He appeared in The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy (1981), Black Beauty (1994) and Wuthering Heights (1998). He wrote and directed the comedy short The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot (2013), which earned a Hugo Award nomination, and had roles in Patrick (2018) and You, Me and Him (2017). Other leading television roles include A Very Peculiar Practice, Campion, At Home with the Braithwaites, The Last Detective and Law & Order: UK, while his stage work includes Chicago, Spamalot, Legally Blonde and Gypsy.

First role
Davison's first television acting role was Elmer, an alien cowboy, in the 1975 ITV children's science fiction series The Tomorrow People, in the episode "A Man from Emily". He left his theater career to work in television.
Beyond film
Davison wrote and recorded the theme for Mixed Blessings, and with Dickinson he co-wrote the Button Moon theme. EMI liked his demo tape and offered a songwriting contract, which he turned down.
Behind the camera
Davison made his professional directorial debut with the comedy short The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot, which he wrote and directed after the classic Doctors were not invited to Doctor Who's 50th anniversary special.
A change of course
Davison's poor GCE results pushed him toward acting. Before he applied to drama school, he worked as a dry cleaner press operator and as a mortuary attendant at Brookwood Hospital.
