Pauline Jameson
Biography
Pauline Jameson was an English actress whose career spanned stage and screen. Born in Heacham, Norfolk, she trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and began her career in 1937 with weekly rep in Colwyn Bay, reaching the West End in 1945 as Lucy in The Rivals. She joined the Old Vic Company for the 1948 to 1949 season, playing roles in Coriolanus, Twelfth Night and The Cherry Orchard, and later appeared with the Royal Shakespeare Company, touring Europe and North America. Her stage work brought her a Clarence Derwent Award in 1959. On screen she was seen mainly on television, with credits including Callan, Hadleigh and Poirot, and her films included The Millionairess (1960), Crooks Anonymous (1962), Murder Most Foul (1964), Night Watch (1973) and Full Circle (1977). The Times counted her among the finest classical actresses of her time. She died in 2007.
