Mort Mills
Biography
Mort Mills was an American actor whose screen career took in more than 150 film and television parts, often as a lawman or a bad man in westerns. He was born in New York City and died in 1993. From 1957 to 1959 he played Marshal Frank Tallman in the series Man Without a Gun. He had recurring roles as Sergeant Ben Landro on Perry Mason and Sheriff Fred Madden on The Big Valley, and was a regular as Lieutenant Bob Malone on Dante from 1960 to 1961. Mills is best known for the patrolman who trails Marion Crane in Hitchcock's Psycho (1960). He also worked with Hitchcock on Torn Curtain (1966), as a spy posing as a farmer, and appeared in Orson Welles's Touch of Evil (1958). His many other credits included Pushover (1954), Ride a Crooked Trail (1958), Bullet for a Badman (1964), The Quick Gun (1964), The Outlaws Is Coming (1965), and Soldier Blue (1970).
