Plot summary
Tennessee frontiersman Davy Crockett and his friend Georgie Russell have finished a season of trapping and hunting, and they are carrying the pelts to Maysville, Kentucky. On the Ohio River they meet Mike Fink, who calls himself the king of the river. Fink will not take them downriver on his keelboat because they cannot pay his toll. He proposes instead that they race their keelboats to New Orleans, with the pelts and his title at stake. Davy draws on his fame to assemble a crew of his own.
