Molly Lamont
Biography
Molly Lamont was a South African-British film actress who started in British pictures in 1930 and later moved to Hollywood. Born in Boksburg, Transvaal, she went to England in her teens after winning a beauty contest, which included a screen test offered by British International Pictures. For several years she played small, often uncredited roles, but her parts improved by the mid-1930s while she was living in London. She then signed a contract with RKO and took the role of Cary Grant's fiancée in The Awful Truth (1937). Her other films included The White Cliffs of Dover and Mr. Skeffington, both released in 1944. She retired from acting in 1951, having appeared in more than fifty films.
