John Hollis

Biography

John Hollis was a British actor born in 1927. He was known for playing Lobot in The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Ernst Stavro Blofeld in For Your Eyes Only, a James Bond film. He also appeared as a Russian General in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987), and in Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1974) for Hammer Films. His other film work included The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother (1975) and roles in the Superman films as an elder of Krypton, plus The Dirty Dozen. On television, he played Sondergaard in Doctor Who during the Jon Pertwee era, and appeared in The Avengers and The Tomorrow People. For BBC Radio he was a character actor in productions such as Great Expectations and Howards End, and he also took part in commercial recordings. He died in 2005.
