Plot summary
Dr. Marcus, a wartime friend, calls Captain Kronos to a village where the dead show signs of extreme aging. Kronos and the hunchback Professor Hieronymus Grost work as vampire hunters. Grost tells a doubtful Marcus that the women died at the hands of a vampire that takes youth instead of blood, and that vampire kinds are as numerous as beasts of prey. One more death proves him right. On the road the pair free Carla, a Romani girl, from the pillory, where she was sentenced for dancing on the Sabbath.
