John Dunsworth
Biography
John Dunsworth was a Canadian actor and filmmaker who started in radio and regional theater. Born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, he studied theater at the University of Guelph before leaving to act in CBC radio dramas and on stage at Halifax's Neptune Theatre. In 1970 he converted an abandoned waterfront building into the Pier One Theatre, and he later founded Filmworks Casting, becoming known as Halifax's most successful casting director. After meeting director Mike Clattenburg in the mid-1990s, he appeared in the short One Last Shot, a role that won him Best Performance at the Atlantic Film Festival, and then developed the villainous trailer park supervisor Jim Lahey for the comedy series Trailer Park Boys. He also played Dave Teagues on Haven, the adaptation of Stephen King's The Colorado Kid, and Officer McNabb in Shattered City: The Halifax Explosion. He died in 2017.
