Jim Beaver

Jim Beaver is an American actor and writer, and a film historian. Born in Laramie, Wyoming, he grew up mainly in Irving, Texas. He became interested in theater at Oklahoma Christian University and made his professional stage debut in 1972 in Rain. After performing widely in Dallas, including with the Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, he moved to New York City and then Los Angeles, where he joined Theatre West. He wrote television episodes, earning a CableACE nomination for Alfred Hitchcock Presents, before acting became his main focus. In Country (1989) helped launch his screen career, and he went on to appear in Bad Girls (1994), Adaptation. (2002), The Life of David Gale (2003), Crimson Peak (2015), and Nightmare Alley (2021). On television he played Whitney Ellsworth on Deadwood, Bobby Singer on Supernatural, Shelby Parlow on Justified, and Robert Dakota Bob Singer on The Boys. His work brought a Screen Actors Guild ensemble nomination and a Critics Choice guest actor nomination.
