Biography

Inger Stevens was a Swedish-born American actress who won a Golden Globe for her television work and also performed in film and on stage. Born in Stockholm, she studied at the Actors Studio and appeared in commercials, plays, and television episodes before a breakthrough in a film starring Bing Crosby. Starring roles followed in Cry Terror! (1958) with James Mason and Rod Steiger and The World, the Flesh and the Devil (1959) with Harry Belafonte. Her greatest success came as the star of The Farmer's Daughter from 1963 to 1966. She also appeared on Bonanza, Route 66, and The Twilight Zone. After that series ended, she made A Guide for the Married Man (1967) and, in 1968, Firecreek, Hang 'Em High, 5 Card Stud, and Madigan. Her last theatrical film paired her with Anthony Quinn, and she finished with the television film Run, Simon, Run (1970).
