Guy Torry

Guy Torry is an American comedian and actor who started in stand-up after moving from St. Louis, Missouri, to Los Angeles to finish a marketing degree. He became interested in comedy after seeing Def Comedy Jam around 1992, and after nearly two years of performing he made his national television debut on that show. He then toured the United States with the Def Comedy Jam Tour. His screen credits include Don't Say a Word (2001), Runaway Jury (2003), and television shows such as Premium Blend, Comic View, and Showtime at the Apollo. One of his best known film roles was the prisoner Lamont in American History X (1998). Torry also created and hosted Phat Tuesdays, a weekly stand-up comedy show for African American comedians at The Comedy Store in Hollywood, which ran from 1995 to 2005 and in 2022 became the subject of an Amazon television program with that title.
