Gregor Fisher
Biography
Gregor Fisher is a Scottish actor and comedian who was born in Menstrie, Clackmannanshire, and grew up in Edinburgh, Langholm and Neilston. He studied at Glasgow's Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He worked with Scottish comedians Rikki Fulton and Hector Nicol on television, and appeared in Michael Radford's Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984). He became best known for playing the title character in the sitcom Rab C. Nesbitt, which grew out of the sketch show Naked Video, where the character originated alongside The Baldy Man. His film work includes Love Actually (2003) and The Merchant of Venice (2004), along with Without a Clue (1988) and Whisky Galore! (2016). On television he appeared in The Tales of Para Handy, Gormenghast, Missing and Oliver Twist, and he published an autobiography, The Boy from Nowhere, in 2015. In 2024 he was cast in the BBC Scotland sitcom Only Child.
