Georges Renavent
Biography
Georges Renavent was a French-American actor who appeared in films and Broadway plays and operated an American Grand Guignol. He was born in Paris and came to the United States in 1914, crossing from Canada into Vermont. His earliest American screen credit was The Seven Sisters (1915). Fourteen years afterward he took a starring part as the Kinkajou in the musical Rio Rita (1929). He also starred in East of Borneo (1931), a movie that later became one of the most shown films on television during the 1950s and 1960s, and he played the Prince of Marudu in it. In 1936 he acted with Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi in The Invisible Ray (1936). Hal Roach's Turnabout (1940) was another of his credits, and his last film was Mara Maru in 1952, where he played Ortega alongside Errol Flynn. On the stage he worked in many Broadway productions and at the Renavent Theater.
