Ed Fury
Biography
Ed Fury was an American bodybuilder, actor, and model. Born on Long Island, New York, he moved to Los Angeles in the late 1940s and competed in bodybuilding contests such as Mr. Muscle Beach before working as a physique model. He began acting on stage and took small uncredited parts in films. His first larger role came in The Wild Women of Wongo (1959). In the 1960s he traveled to Italy, where he became known for sword-and-sandal movies. He starred in Colossus and the Amazon Queen (1960), among other films in that genre. Other credits from that period included Maciste Against the Sheik (1962) and The Seven Revenges (1961). He also played Ursus in a trilogy of films. After the popularity of such films declined, he returned to acting in the early 1970s, appearing mostly in small television roles.
