Dickie Moore
Biography
Dickie Moore was an American actor and a survivor of the silent film era. Born in Los Angeles, he debuted on screen in The Beloved Rogue (1927), playing John Barrymore's character as an infant. Supporting parts followed, including Marlene Dietrich's son in Blonde Venus (1932) and roles alongside Spencer Tracy in Man's Castle (1933) and Barbara Stanwyck in So Big. For the 1932 to 1933 season he led the Our Gang series, then moved back to features, and he was perhaps best known as the title character in Oliver Twist. Other credits include The Story of Louis Pasteur (1936), Sergeant York (1941) and Out of the Past (1947), as Robert Mitchum's deaf helper. He later acted on Broadway, in stock and on television, taught and wrote about acting, and produced the short The Boy and the Eagle, an Oscar nominee. His final screen role came in Eight Iron Men (1952).
