Dennis Letts
Biography
Dennis Letts was an American college professor who became an actor later in life. Born in Oklahoma City, he taught writing and English for more than thirty years, mainly at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma. He took up acting at 50, first in university and community theater productions while he was still teaching, and then full time after he retired. He acted in over 40 films and television shows. His film debut was Blood Suckers from Outer Space (1984), and he also had parts in Cast Away (2000) and Where the Heart Is. In 2007 he took on the part of Beverly Weston in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company's first staging of August: Osage County, and the production and his performance were both critical successes.
