Biography

David Maldonado is an actor with a career spanning film, television and theater. Born and raised in New Iberia, Louisiana, he studied art and theater at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. He played Curt Kuchta, captain of the Transocean drill ship, alongside Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell and John Malkovich in Deepwater Horizon (2016). His film work also includes Trumbo (2015) with Bryan Cranston and Trespass (2011), plus the lead in the independent feature Jack's Apocalypse (2015). On television he appeared in Treme opposite Melissa Leo, True Detective with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, and the Emmy nominated Your Honor with Bryan Cranston. His other series credits include Homeland, Queen Sugar, American Crime and Queen of the South, and he has performed on stage in plays such as Our Town and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
