Plot summary
Ellie lives on Caddo Lake with her mother Celeste, stepfather Daniel, and stepsister Anna. One night Anna disappears near the water. The family and the surrounding community search for the eight-year-old without success. Ellie looks for Anna on a stretch of the lake where the water has drawn back to a dry bed. Elsewhere, Paris works as a dredger and is trying to understand why his mother had a seizure before her car went off a bridge. When he sees footprints on a receded stretch of the lake and follows them, he temporarily loses his hearing. His former girlfriend, Celeste, comes back into his life, and they rekindle their relationship, though she doubts his account of a mystery at the lake.
