David Bamber
Biography
David Bamber is an English actor who was born in Walkden, Lancashire, and trained at Bristol University before attending the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. His earliest film credit was in Privates on Parade (1983), a World War II comedy, as Sergeant Charles Bishop. Early television parts in Juliet Bravo and Crown Court led to a recurring part as Fred Hurley on Call Me Mister. He went on to play Mr. Collins in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Eric Slatt in Steven Moffat's Chalk. He received the 1995 Laurence Olivier Award as Best Actor for his portrayal of Guy in My Night with Reg. Later screen work includes Cicero in the series Rome, Adolf Hitler in Valkyrie (2008), and Admiral Ramsay in Darkest Hour (2017). He has also done voice work, including Emperor Constantine in a Doctor Who audio drama.
