Plot summary
By May 1940, the Labour opposition in Parliament has lost faith in Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, calling him too weak against the Nazi advance. Conservative colleagues want Lord Halifax to take over, but Halifax says his time has not come. Chamberlain picks Winston Churchill, the one man the opposition will accept, though many in Parliament distrust him. King George VI, skeptical himself, asks Churchill to form a government, and Churchill begins assembling a cabinet.
