Biography

Cosmo Sardo was an Italian-born American actor who worked in film and television. He emigrated to the United States as a child and grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. His screen career began in 1939 with an uncredited part in the short Mendelssohn's Wedding March, and he went on to appear in Brother Orchid and in features such as Ocean's 11, Divorce American Style, The Rat Race, The Oscar, Les Misérables and The Mississippi Gambler. Alongside that work he earned a living as a barber in Hollywood, California. On television he made his debut in Adventures of Superman and took guest roles in Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Wagon Train, Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone, The Fugitive, The Rockford Files and Kolchak: The Night Stalker. He retired from acting in 1984, his last appearance coming in the police series Hill Street Blues, and he died in 1989.
