Bruce French
Biography
Bruce French was an American actor whose screen and stage career spanned more than 30 years. Born in Reinbeck, Iowa, he studied speech and theater at the University of Iowa before building a long list of credits. He was best known for playing Father Lonigan, a blind priest, in more than four hundred episodes of the NBC daytime drama Passions between 1999 and 2008, and he took so many clerical parts that he brought a collar to auditions. On television he also played Jim Burns on The Riches and appeared as several characters in the Star Trek franchise, among them the empath adjutant in The Drumhead. He voiced roles in the 1981 radio drama Star Wars: The Original Radio Drama and had small film parts, including a reporter in Jurassic Park III (2001) and a pathologist in Fletch. In 2010 he won an Ovation Award for his lead performance in The Browning Version.
