Barbara Babcock
Biography
Barbara Babcock is an American actress whose career has been mostly in television, beginning with guest roles in the mid-1950s and including appearances in more than 60 series. Born in Fort Riley, Kansas, she spent part of her childhood in Tokyo. She appeared several times on Star Trek: The Original Series, Mannix and Murder, She Wrote, and from 1978 to 1982 had a recurring role on Dallas. In 1981 she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for playing Grace Gardner on Hill Street Blues. She later starred in The Law & Harry McGraw and from 1993 to 1998 played Dorothy Jennings on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, receiving an Emmy nomination for that role. Her films include Day of the Evil Gun (1968), Bang the Drum Slowly (1973), The Black Marble (1980), Back Roads (1981), The Lords of Discipline (1983), Far and Away (1992), Space Cowboys (2000) and Home Alone 4 (2002).
