Anne Ramsey

Anne Ramsey was an American character actress who worked in film and television. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, and raised in Connecticut and New York, she became interested in theater at Bennington College and performed in Broadway productions during the 1950s. In 1959 she helped form the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philadelphia. She started her Hollywood career in the 1970s, taking character parts in shows like Little House on the Prairie, Wonder Woman, and Ironside. Her films included The Sporting Club, Meet the Hollowheads (1989), and The Goonies (1985), where she played Mama Fratelli and earned a Saturn Award. For Throw Momma from the Train (1987), she received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations and won a second Saturn Award. She also appeared in Homer & Eddie (1989).
