Plot summary
A snowstorm is coming to New York City when Rosario Fuentes comes back to the apartment of her grandmother, Griselda, who has died. Rosario and Griselda had been estranged. Rosario is a stockbroker on Wall Street, and she has come to sort through the belongings Griselda left. Marty, the building superintendent, tells her the storm has delayed emergency services, so she will spend the night there with the body. Phenomena she cannot explain begin that night. In a hidden chamber she finds a Palo spellbook, dolls, animal skeletons and a human skull, items of a religion that blends African spiritualism with Catholicism.
