Plot summary
Roger Swanson is a cynical New York advertising copywriter who attributes his success with women to manipulating their emotions from the moment he meets them. Joyce, his girlfriend and also his boss, has just ended their relationship. The same day, his sixteen-year-old nephew Nick turns up in town for a college admissions interview at Columbia University and asks to stay at Roger's apartment. Nick admits he is a virgin and wants Roger's help to change that, so Roger takes him out for a night in the city and coaches him in picking up women. At an upscale singles bar they meet Andrea and Sophie.
