Plot summary

Andy Palazzo works a front desk with little ambition to show for it, until he finds someone to aim for. Hayley Roberts washes hair in New York City and dreams of a bigger life than the one she has. The two meet by accident and each is taken with the other at once. Rather than tell the truth about who they are and what they do, they invent other selves and date under those false pretenses. Both are reading the same self-improvement book, and they let its script shape the lives they present to each other. The lies give them the romance they were after and, unknown to them, set up problems larger than either expected.
