Plot summary
Oliver Courtney is a composer who puts his name on songs written by other people and takes the credit. Bob Sommers writes the tunes, working alongside Billy Starbuck. After Courtney's lyric writer dies, Cherry Lane takes the job, though she hesitates about writing under someone else's name. Neither is allowed to say who employs them. Finding her home too distracting for writing, Cherry takes the advice to look for somewhere small and quiet, and she goes to Tarrytown, taking a room at Nobody's Inn, the river hotel kept by Uncle Caleb. Bob chooses the same moment to visit the inn. The two run into each other once more, get acquainted, and write a song of their own.
