Plot summary
The wives of Stepford, Connecticut, are lovely, domestic and obedient, and when a siren sounds each swallows a pill that they say is for a thyroid condition. Television reporter Kaye Foster has come to town for a story about its lowest-in-the-country crime and divorce rates and its tightest real-estate market. Megan and Andy Brady have just moved in; Megan is down to earth, while Andy is applying to the police force and to the Men's Association. Put off by the local women, Kaye hires Megan as her research assistant. Barbara Parkinson, another wife, nearly runs Kaye down with her car and then repeats the same motions at the scene.
