Plot summary
Sheriff, Tony and Lewis, three friends, pass a summer at beach huts in Malaysia, where they buy a large bag of hash. When the vacation ends, Sheriff and Tony head back to New York City, while Lewis wants to travel to Borneo to help endangered orangutans. On their last day the three throw away the leftover hash. Two years on, Sheriff works as a limo driver and Tony has become an architect. Beth, a lawyer, comes to them with news: the hash discovered at their Malaysian house has kept Lewis in a prison in Penang for two years, and he will be sentenced to death unless one or both of them return to share responsibility. She tells them that they will not be tortured or harmed, and the men have eight days to make their decision.
