Plot summary
Bob Rueland, a Chicago architect, promises his wife Elizabeth, a zoologist at Lincoln Park Zoo, that he will finish the primate house she is raising money for. She dies in a car crash after the fundraiser, and her heart is given to Grace Briggs, an artist who has had heart disease since she was 14. A year on, Grace can finally make plans, and her friend Megan Dayton pushes her to start dating. Bob, still grieving, agrees to a blind date at an Irish-Italian restaurant, and the evening goes badly, but the waitress, Grace, whose grandfather owns the restaurant, interests him more than his date does. The two begin seeing each other, neither aware of what links them.
