Plot summary
Uncle Bené sets his niece and nephew down at the Rose Bowl Stadium in a flying saucer, and Tony and Tia, who come from another world, are quickly separated. Dr. Victor Gannon, a scientist, and Letha Wedge, who pays for his experiments, see Tony use his powers to rescue Letha's nephew Sickle from death. Gannon tranquilizes the boy and takes him to a laboratory, where he means to turn the abilities toward his own ends, scientific recognition and worldwide power, while Letha seeks a return on her money. Tia falls in with a gang of would-be tough boys called the Earthquake Gang, who take her to their hideout and join her search for Tony.
