Plot summary
Otto Maddox is a punk rocker in Los Angeles with no job, no money and a girlfriend who leaves him for his best friend. A stranger named Bud offers him twenty-five dollars to drive a car across town, and Otto discovers the car was being repossessed for the Helping Hand Acceptance Corporation. Learning that his parents gave the college fund they promised him to a televangelist, he takes a job as an apprentice repo man. The agency and its rivals chase a twenty-thousand-dollar bounty on a 1964 Chevy Malibu. A woman named Leila tells Otto the trunk of that car holds aliens whose radiation makes it dangerous, and government agents are hunting it too.
