Plot summary
Kyle Madison works at a bank and lives with his family in the suburbs. Zack, a friend from college he has not seen in years, turns up at his office and talks eagerly about a self-improvement program he has just completed. The program is called Rebirth, and Zack wants Kyle to come to a weekend retreat. He will not explain what happens there. Kyle watches testimonials from participants and agrees to go. He is blindfolded and taken to a derelict industrial complex, where a woman on the bus has told him she doubts he is ready. Rebirth veteran Ray gives him an intimidating welcome. In the hall, participants tell him the program has neither leaders nor spectators, and that anyone can go whenever they wish.
