Plot summary
Jamie Bartlett, a high school freshman, finds school life frustrating. Her closest friends are Connor, Lindsay and Harmony, and her brother Lenny is at home. Sawyer Sullivan is a rival, and Sawyer's boyfriend, Marco Vega, is the boy Jamie would like to notice her. Every day Jamie writes in a journal she keeps on her tablet. The journal tells of Isabella, or Is, a popular girl with remarkable powers who faces down a mean girl named Myrna. Jamie's English class requires an essay, and her printer stops working, so she emails the file to Lindsay to print. Lindsay sends the journal to the teacher instead. The writing wins a contest and appears as a published book, bringing Jamie attention, interviews and appearances.
