Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Reach Me (2014)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Mid-shoot in 2013, funding dried up when investor Norman Zada backed out and sued for return of $1,000,000; John Herzfeld, Sylvester Stallone and producers Rebekah Chaney and Cassian Elwes then launched a Kickstarter to raise $250,000 by September 19.
  • The team hit its $250,000 Kickstarter goal but withdrew the campaign anyway, restarting on Indiegogo for its "broader and more flexible capabilities"; the Indiegogo drive had a $50,000 goal and ended with $178,640.
  • John Herzfeld's film was inspired at least partly by his memories of televangelist Reverend Ike and of Napoleon Hill's self-help book Think and Grow Rich, though he said the film is "not about getting rich, but believing in yourself."
  • John Herzfeld started casting with Sylvester Stallone, a friend since they were roommates at the University of Miami; after Stallone committed, other actors agreed to join the film at minimum pay rates.
  • Herzfeld recruited his long-time friend Danny Aiello to play the mobster Frank; when Aiello turned the role down, the two instead created the character of Father Paul together.
  • Sylvester Stallone's youngest daughter, Scarlet, made her acting debut in the film, and called the experience "pretty humiliating" because she "just had to say one tiny line, and they had to cut that in half."
