Plot summary
Catherine is grieving two losses. Her boyfriend James is leaving her for another woman, and her father, a renowned artist, has died by suicide after years of depression. Her friend since childhood, Virginia, asks her to stay a week at the cabin Virginia's parents own. Virginia asks a neighbor, Rich, to join them, which upsets Catherine. The two women argue: Virginia faults Catherine's relationships with James and her father and her choice to work as her father's assistant instead of making her own art, while Catherine mocks Virginia's unemployed, drifting life. Virginia insists she cares about Catherine and wants her to heal, and Catherine starts to sketch Virginia's portrait.
