Plot summary
Vladimir Putin's life is followed from his childhood in Leningrad, in the postwar Soviet Union, where his mother abandons him. The KGB recruits him, and he spends the Cold War years as an intelligence officer. In St. Petersburg he deals with gangsters, and from there he rises to the presidency of Russia, holding power in a country whose enemies he has silenced.
