Plot summary
The Hatfields and the McCoys have feuded for generations in a Virginia forest village, a quarrel that goes back to a car in the 1930s, and the Hatfields trash a McCoy wedding. Jodie Hatfield and Ricky McCoy keep their romance hidden from both families, and Ricky brings his sister Sarah along to watch for trouble when Jodie sneaks out to see him. Jodie's brothers come upon them and Sarah dies by accident; they go after Ricky. After he finds Sarah's body, Ricky seeks out Haggis, who tells him the price of summoning Pumpkinhead, the demon of vengeance, and speaks with the spirit of Ed Harley. Sheriff Dallas Pope, who knows the creature from bitter experience, warns Ricky away from it.
