Plot summary
During the Battle of Bataan in 1942, Wing Commander James Wright of the Royal Air Force goes down over the Philippines and is captured by Japanese forces. He is held in a prisoner-of-war camp commanded by Lt. Col. Benjiro Ito, where Allied troops endure forced labor, hunger and daily violence. Camp officers stage underground bouts, making prisoners fight for their captors' entertainment, and pressure Wright to take part. The martial arts training he had in Hong Kong gives him an edge in these contests.
