Plot summary
PC Molloy has won the Booker Prize, and the writing he wants to do is a world away from a tabloid gossip magazine. He is coerced into joining the staff of Poison Pen, where April Devereaux is his boss, and he reluctantly becomes the interviewer sent to meet celebrities who guard their own secrets carefully. The stars he meets have secrets they want kept quiet, and the culture of the magazine clashes with his own. The interviews bring him a fame of his own, so his private life becomes harder to keep off the front pages. He also finds himself falling for April, which only complicates things further.
