Plot summary
Candace Flynn spends her summer trying to catch her brothers Phineas and Ferb at the inventions they build, so that her mother Linda will finally see them. The attempts never work. Then a space pod lands and takes Candace and Vanessa Doofenshmirtz away, and the boys trace its origin to the planet Feebla-Oot. Isabella, Baljeet and Buford help them construct a portal, which instead opens inside Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc. There the children join forces with Dr. Doofenshmirtz and cross space in his ship, while Perry the Platypus trails them without their knowledge. On Feebla-Oot, Candace meets Super Super Big Doctor, a leader who says the girl carries Remarkalonium, a substance her people require, and Candace, treated with respect, turns down the gift her brothers bring.

- Disney asked Phineas and Ferb creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh to make a film for its new streaming service because the show drew both children and adults, with 47% of its audience being adults.
- The writers spent the first three weeks inventing ideas they threw away because the series had already done them, then settled on "a real rescue story" with Candace captured by aliens, the show's first rescue plot and first story led by Candace.
- Three different opening scenes for the film were created and all scrapped, because each one showed Candace in a negative light when, as Dan Povenmire said, the filmmakers wanted audiences to be on her side.
- A live-action gag in which Povenmire and Marsh are seen pitching the scene was written by Jon Colton Barry for an unproduced Phineas and Ferb theatrical film; Disney executives ordered it removed, but Povenmire and Marsh refused.
- The film was Disney Television Animation's first non-television film since Teacher's Pet in 2004, and Disney's first non-television film to use 2D animation since Winnie the Pooh in 2011.
- Bob Bowen solved a story problem with the idea of using a T-shirt cannon, which Marsh and Povenmire initially opposed before agreeing when he pitched it to them again as an animatic.
- Because Disney Television Animation closed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, co-creator Dan Povenmire did additional animation fixing on the film himself from his home.
