Plot summary
Erik, a musician who lives off his family's wealth, argues with his girlfriend Anna about details they both consider trivial. Anna, alarmed by news of increasing conflict in the Middle East, wants them to spend more time together, while Erik is preoccupied with composing and with his ex-girlfriends. She confides in Rick, a friend of Len's, that she has had visions of a coming apocalypse and fears she may be schizophrenic. Len, an unemployed writer, has marriage trouble with Mia, a lawyer; he tells his sister Sarah, a nurse, that he has taken Mia for granted. Mia has just represented Andy, a well-known scientist accused of passing trade secrets to a research lab. Andy, Erik's grandfather, offers Erik more money; Erik turns it down to show he can manage alone.
