Plot summary
Dylan Webber is a twelve-year-old boy in Australia who is timid, and his father, Jack, has grown resigned and dwells on the past. An unexpected introduction to competitive paper-plane throwing shows Dylan a talent for folding planes that he did not know he had. From then on he wants a place at the world junior championship in Tokyo. The route to Tokyo runs through the Aussie Junior Championships in Sydney, and a place there depends on a design of his own that can hold up in the contest. Bullies and his own uncertainty stand in his way, and the contestants he faces are ambitious and skilful.
