Terry Norris
Biography
Terry Norris was an Australian actor who worked across stage, radio, television and film. Born in Richmond, a suburb of Melbourne, he left school at 15; after seeing the musical Rose-Marie staged at His Majesty's Theatre in Melbourne, he wrote to theater managers asking for work and began in the wardrobe department at the Tivoli before taking on walk-on parts. At 21 he went to Britain, joining a York repertory company. Back in Australia from 1963 he acted in many stage plays and wrote plays of his own. He became best known on television for two long-running roles, Joe Turner in Bellbird from 1969 to 1977 and Senior Sergeant Eric O'Reilly in Cop Shop, which brought him a Silver Logie in 1980. On film he appeared in the thriller Irresistible and the drama Romulus, My Father, and he also acted in the fantasy film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
