Plot summary
After the collapse of the world, two men cross a dry Kansas in search of food. Leif is the younger of the pair and the only one of them who can read. He finds a book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and treats it as a factual record, using the ruined country around him as proof of what it describes. Dorothy Gale's account of home is the part that stays with Leif, and he asks whether OzLand is that home. His companion Emri answers that each day is itself a journey through home. The book's claims test the beliefs and the friendship of the two travelers.
