Glenn Payne

Glenn Payne is an independent filmmaker, artist and improvisational actor who produced his movies in Blue Springs, Mississippi, working with the local talent to be found in the northern part of the state. He studied painting with Brent Funderburk at Mississippi State University, developed his improvisational work with a Tupelo troupe called West of Shake Rag, and trained at Second City in Chicago. He was an award-winning filmmaker and an award-winning artist, and his paintings appeared in galleries, at art events and in private collections around the world. Payne treated composition, dramatic lighting, color and storytelling as threads linking his three art forms, and he described film as the most influential art form, combining painting, music, dance, performance and writing to reach millions of viewers. His aim, he said, was to keep creating.
