Plot summary

Olivia Rodrigo makes a trip she has made before, traveling from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles with the live band that plays her shows. Along the way the group performs songs from SOUR in arrangements written for the journey. In interviews Rodrigo recalls the writing and creation of her debut album and shares what she was feeling as a young woman at a particular time in her life. Clips show her at work with the album's producer, and footage from the making of the record comes from a camera set up in a home studio as they worked out the arrangements, the lyrics and the order of the songs.
